About

What do Psychologists do?

happy family

Psychologists see clients as the authors of their own stories and the creators of their own goals. Psychologists then work with a person to bring something new or different into their behaviour, feelings or thinking that helps to move them closer to achieving their goals.

Psychologists do not prescribe medication. We are part of a health care team that may include your medical practitioner.  A  Psychologist will help you develop your own sense of personal control in your life, enabling you to build your sense of well-being by means of your own thinking and behaviours.

Importantly at Learning Curves we use only those learning activities that are proven by research to be most effective in any given situation. This means that you play an active role in your therapy where you learn, practice and apply effective life skills.

For adults, adolescents and children, assistance is offered with:

  • Stress and resilience
  • Sleep
  • Depression
